Above ground diesel fuel tanks are most likely to be exposed to the worst weather conditions when the temperature drops below freezing. Refueling vehicles and equipment is vital to continuing operations. Operators may be tempted to remove the tank filter to allow fuel to pass when the filter plugs up because of diesel fuel gelling. That filter is vital to delivering clean fuel to all of the diesel equipment supported by the above ground Bulk Tank.

E TIP, Inc. reports that its research reveals that 98% of fuel flow problems in cold weather are caused right in the filter when the paraffin separates out (fuel gelling) plugging the filter. The quickest solution is to change the plugged filter for a new one. That usually allows the fueling to continue for a limited time but that solution is costly in repeated labor visits and in replacement filters.

The most effective and least costly solution is to install the Universal Bulk Tank Filter Preheater™ to prevent the gelling and keep the fuel flowing. It takes minutes to mount the Bulk Tank Filter Preheater™ on the metal filter and plug it in to 120v power. When the Bulk Tank Filter Preheater is installed #2 diesel fuel gelling is easily controlled with no blending or expensive additives required. The result: lower fuel costs with #2 diesel and no repeating labor costs for multiple filter changes and no interruptions in the re-fueling operations.

Many users have reported gelling problems even when using blended fuel and/or cold weather additives when the temperature drops well below freezing.

Held in place with three springs and nylon ties the 120v Bulk Tank Filter Preheater™ stops diesel fuel gelling in the filter within minutes. The fuel can be continuously pumped as the Preheater™ thermostat controls the temperature. If the flow rate slows down, stop pumping for a minute or two to allow the Preheater to recover then resume pumping.

The Bulk Tank Filter Preheater™ fits metal filters 3.5” to 4” diameter by 7” to 10” tall. It costs $225.00 and is warranted for three years.
