Allmand Bros. Inc. has upgraded its Maxi-Heat portable heater with higher static pressure and longer ducting.

The static pressure of the Maxi-Heat has increased from .5 to 1.5 wg. This increase in static pressure has allowed Allmand to increase the length of the Maxi-Heat’s 16-in. (40.6 cm) ducting from 40 to 110 ft. (12 to 33.5 m)

The Maxi-Heat plays an important role in the mining and petroleum industries, cement curing, equipment pre-heating, pipeline construction, restoration and general construction. According to Allmand sales engineer Doug Dahlgren, the new upgrades to Maxi-Heat have increased both the performance and versatility of the portable heating unit.

“There are many applications that now require air to be ducted up to 100 feet,” Dahlgren said. “Incorporating a new fan-motor combination and increasing the static pressure helps ensure that clean, breathable air can be delivered to the work area and provides a wider variety of heat distribution options.”

Maxi-Heat features twin heater units that produce a combined maximum of 1 million BTUs and may be operated independently depending on heating requirements. A standard 1,800-rpm liquid-cooled Isuzu 3CD or optional CAT C1.5 diesel engine with regulated generator provides power for the heaters and electrical accessories. A 191-gal. (723 L) fuel tank provides more than 24 hours of operation without refueling.

In addition to the static pressure and ducting upgrades, Dahlgren said Allmand has incorporated another important performance feature into the Maxi-Heat.

“We have also added in-line fuel heaters and pre-filters to the fuel system on the unit,” Dahlgren explained. “This is especially important in those situations where fuel may be contaminated or may not be blended properly for the operating conditions. The heater/pre-filters make the system more tolerant to dirt and variances in the viscosity of the fuel, which means improved performance and dependability.”
