BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) Officials say as many as 100 jobs could be added by spring as New Holland Construction begins producing tractor loaders this year at Case Construction in Burlington.

New Holland’s backhoes for the North American market had been made at an Imola, Italy, plant.

A spokeswoman for New Holland Construction said the transfer is expected to begin in late November or early December, and will decrease lead times for customers.

Currently, more than 400 workers at Case’s 156-acre plant in Burlington assemble backhoes.

Case and New Holland merged operations in 1999, but each brand name is still used on products.
