To meet the growing demands of its limestone quarry operations, Berks Products of Reading, PA, recently purchased a 67-ton Komatsu HD605 quarry truck from Furnival Machinery Company, Hatfield, PA.

Working with John Sutch at Furnival Machinery Company, Berks Products purchased the HD605 for its main quarry near Leesport, PA.

Having never purchased a Komatsu truck, Bob Bucklew, director of fleet resources, said he was willing to give something new a chance.

“We evaluated the competition and found the HD605 had the right combination of power, capacity, warrantee and price,” he said. “The machine has already helped us increase productivity time.”

With the production on the rise and with the hauls getting longer, the HD605 is Berks Products’ seventh quarry truck. Operating two limestone quarries and five ready-mix plants in Southeast Pennsylvania, Berks Products owns a fleet of 260 on- and off-road units.
