Bluelight Machines announced expanded compatibility of its Autopilot autonomy platform to include Volvo G-Series articulated dump trucks (including the A40G) and the Caterpillar GC compactor lineup (including the CS11GC).
With compatibility now spanning Caterpillar next gen ADTs and Volvo G-Series trucks, Bluelight estimates its platform now covers more than half of the Western articulated dump truck market.
The announcement was made at ConExpo-Con/AGG 2026, where Bluelight is exhibiting in booth F13040.
Expanding Across Mixed ADT Fleets
Bluelight Autopilot is already deployed on dozens of Caterpillar next gen articulated trucks, including 730, 740 GC and 745 models.
With the addition of Volvo G-Series compatibility, contractors operating mixed Cat and Volvo fleets can now deploy autonomy across the majority of their haul trucks, according to the company.
Existing Autopilot kits in the field — or held with dealers — are fully compatible with Volvo G-Series trucks.
Enabling compatibility requires:
• a Volvo-specific wire harness; and
• an over-the-air firmware update.
No new autonomy hardware is required.
Bluelight expects to convert a similar number of Volvo G-Series trucks within the next year as are currently operating on Cat platforms.
"We are all about supporting our customers who want Bluelight autonomy on their Volvo products," said Grant Adams, CEO of Ascendum Machinery. "It was a no-brainer to make this happen."
Autonomy for Everyday Compactors: Cat GC Series
Bluelight also announced compatibility with the Caterpillar GC compactor lineup, including the widely used CS11GC.
The GC series is among the most popular rollers on the new equipment market for contractors focused on value and reliability. It is often the core compactor in everyday sitework fleets.
Open ROPS GC rollers can be retrofitted with Bluelight Autopilot in approximately three hours, consistent with Bluelight's standard 3–6 hour installation time across supported machines.
Existing autonomy kits can be transferred from one machine to another the same day, requiring only a model-specific harness and minimal hardware changes — with no operational downtime beyond the installation itself.
GC rollers equipped with Bluelight autonomy are already operating in Florida, Virginia, Texas and Arkansas.
"Contractors like the GC roller because it's no-frills and reliable," said Dick Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Bluelight Machines. "It's one of the most common compactors in the field. We've been asked for a long time to bring autonomy to that machine. We're excited to make Autopilot available on the rollers contractors use every day."
Jeremy, superintendent of James A. Rogers Excavation in Little Rock, Ark., welcomed the update.
"The GC roller is our core compactor," Jeremy said. "I'm excited to put Bluelight autonomy to work across more of our fleet."
Designed for Transferability
At ConExpo, Bluelight will display a Caterpillar 730 articulated truck in booth F13040 equipped with an installed Autopilot kit.
Contractors can see firsthand:
• how minimally invasive the installation is;
• how compact the hardware footprint is; and
• how easily a kit can be transferred between supported trucks and rollers.
Bluelight's retrofit systems are designed to move with the fleet — portable across compatible machines and built to protect contractor investment as fleets evolve.
Standard installation time across supported ADTs and rollers remains approximately 3–6 hours.
Global Dealer Network Ready
Bluelight's 23 dealers across North America, South America, Asia and Australia are equipped to install and support Volvo G-Series ADTs, Caterpillar GC rollers, Caterpillar Next Gen articulated trucks and supported compactor platforms.
All four continents already have active deployments — and growing demand — across these expanded makes and models.
Growing Platform Compatibility
Bluelight Autopilot compatibility now includes:
• Caterpillar next gen articulated trucks (730, 740 GC, 745);
• Volvo G-Series articulated trucks (including A40G);
• Caterpillar GC compactors (including CS11GC);
• Dynapac single drum vibratory compactors; and
• additional supported compactor platforms.
With compatibility expanding across brands, price tiers and fleet types, autonomy is moving beyond flagship equipment and into the mainstream construction fleet.
Autonomy is no longer limited to premium machines; it is available on the equipment contractors already own.
