Bobcat Sweeper Attachment Design Enhances Performance

Construction Equipment Guide

The Bobcat 84-in. (213 cm) sweeper attachment features a new design that includes a floating bristle head, direct-drive motor, solid-mounted hood and optional wheel kit and gutter brush accessories. The attachment is approved for use on Bobcat skid steer loaders (models S220 through S300), compact track loaders (models T250 through T300) and the A300 all-wheel steer loader.

The sweeper attachment’s floating bristle head follows surface contours independently of the bucket, providing improved surface contact on slopes for better sweeping consistency. The floating head also offers increased down pressure for longer bristle life, thus reducing the number of required bristle adjustments, according to the manufacturer.

The 84-in. sweeper attachment also has a direct-drive motor that increases efficiency and reduces the number of wear parts, resulting in lower maintenance. In addition, a reversible cutting edge lasts twice as long and larger diameter bristles provide longer bristle life than smaller sweeper models, Bobcat representatives said.

The new solid-mounted hood limits potential damage to the sweeper caused by aggressive slamming of the hood while cleaning out the sweeper bucket. To accommodate bucket clean out, the bristle head slides up and forward into the cover, creating an opening between the sweeper head and bucket.

Operators who need to maintain the integrity of surfaces such as stamped concrete, cobblestone and asphalt can choose the optional wheel kit accessory for the new Bobcat 84-in. sweeper attachment. The kit protects surfaces from scrapes and scratches when the wheels engage the surface, by suspending the cutting edge of the sweeper during forward travel. Two mounted caster wheels with gas shocks are included in the kit. If removal of hard-packed mud is required, the gas shocks can be compressed by rolling the Bob-Tach attachment mounting system out and lower the cutting edge to the surface.

An optional gutter brush cleans hard-to-reach areas such as curbs, drainage depressions and along buildings.
