Caterpillar recently purchased the remaining interest in the Intelligent Switchgear Organization (ISO). The organization is the result of Caterpillar's joint venture with Eaton Corporation, which develops and makes "switchgears, generator set controls and automatic transfer switches," Electrical Business reported.
Caterpillar bought Eaton Corporation's interest, eliminating the joint venture, effective Dec. 1. ISO employees will become part of Caterpillar as manufacturing continues at ISO's Alpharetta, Ga. location. In addition, Eaton will still supply electrical components, Electrical Business reported.
"This acquisition differentiates Caterpillar in the market by enabling us to provide a wide range of complete power solutions from a single supplier," said Tom Frake, vice president, Caterpillar's Global Power Solutions Division. "Through this purchase, we can streamline our supply chain and other key processes so Caterpillar and the Cat dealer network are able to deliver even more value for the customer by providing complete solutions."
