CDE will host an open house event May 14, 2025, with Freehaven Materials in Brookhaven, N.Y.

Because demand for aggregates is expected to continue rising across the United States, Freehaven Materials wanted a solution that would turn waste into reusable materials and realized that by venturing into wet washing, it could gain this advantage and generate additional revenue.

To meet market demands and support the local industry, CDE and Freehaven Materials have partnered to deliver a 150 tph waste recycling solution, which is repurposing construction, demolition and excavation waste.

Commissioned in 2024, the plant is allowing Freehaven Materials to transform waste streams into five sand and aggregate products, which are being reused in infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, roads and other critical infrastructure across Long Island, N.Y.

"We're looking forward to showcasing our innovative technologies at this open house event," said Joseph Teahl, business development manager of CDE. "At this event, we will highlight the innovation behind this waste recycling plant and see how we've enabled Freehaven Materials to turn today's 'waste' into tomorrow's resources."

"Plants like this play a crucial role in addressing global sand and aggregate shortages by reducing landfill waste, conserving natural resources and contributing to a circular economy and we're proud to be supporting Freehaven Materials with this sustainable solution," added Teahl.

"We recognized the challenges of procuring raw materials and saw an opportunity to capitalize on in the marketplace and given CDE's reputation as a market leader, we knew this was the right investment for us," said Tom Hayes, managing partner of Freehaven Materials.

"Through the whole process, CDE provided us with a comprehensive consulting approach from engineering experts which in turn gave us the confidence we needed to get this plant up and running," added Hayes. "We're really proud of this plant and look forward to showcasing it at the open house event."

At the open house, guests will have the opportunity to meet with both the CDE and Freehaven teams, learn more about waste recycling solutions and take a detailed tour of the plant led by technical experts who can have personalized discussions on how this technology can be applied through a range of operations.
