NEW YORK (AP) - New York City fire officials say a construction worker has been seriously injured after being struck by concrete in a high-rise building undergoing demolition.
Officials said workers at the Madison Ave building just west of Grand Central Station called for assistance around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
A worker, who was not identified, was struck in the head by concrete while on the 20th floor of the building.
The elevators in the building were out of service so firefighters had to lower the injured worker on a stretcher through an interior shaftway.
Officials said the worker was then taken to Bellevue Hospital. He is listed in critical condition.
