Some may say that 1999 was a breakout year for De Veau Tractor Inc., a 32-year-old company.

An upturn for the company was when it was appointed the New Holland Construction Equipment dealer for 22 counties in Central New York from the Canadian to Pennsylvania borders for the heavy equipment line with medium- and light-equipment responsibilities in a majority of those counties.

The combination of Alan De Veau, president, heading up the sales effort and his brother, Jeff, heading up the finance and special sales operations put De Veau Tractor in position to become the number one New Holland Construction Equipment dealer in North America.

The company also became the number one dealer for New Holland Credit Company in retail finance sales.

De Veau Tractor was also honored by the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce & KPMG LLP as being in the Syracuse 100, placing 39th in 1999 Growth by Revenue and 27th in 1999 Growth by Productivity.

Along with his other responsibilities at his company, Alan De Veau is serving on the New Holland Construction Equipment Dealer Council, having been appointed in 2000 to serve with eight other dealers from across North America.

So far, the De Veaus, with the profits of the last few months, believe that they have a good chance in keeping the 138 percent growth experienced in 1999.

In order to better serve its customers, the company has added more service technicians and qualified sales representatives to cover the marketplace.

“The addition of New Holland excavators, wheel loaders, telehandlers, crawler dozers and motors graders to the line of New Holland tractor loaders, backhoe loaders and skid steer loaders will give our customers and future customers one-stop shopping, said Alan De Veau.
