Ditch Witch Equipment of Tennessee, based in Maryville, began representing the Terex line of backhoes, mini-excavators and rubber-tired loaders in Spring 2002, and in the past 10 months, couldn’t be happier, according to Aubrey Needham Jr., president, of the company.
It all started last year during the annual American Rental Association (ARA) trade show. Needham said he spoke with Terex representatives about the possibility and by May of that year, a plan was in place. “I got interested in the line. Later, they contacted me and we decided that the Terex products would be a good mix with our present Ditch Witch line,” he explained.
The company serves the eastern and central Tennessee area, and so far, the response has been excellent. “Sales have been brisk,” Needham said. “People are renting and buying them. We’ve sold about 12 to 14 units since taking on the line.”
Although a sales specialist has not been added to carry the new line, Needham noted that it may be a future consideration for Ditch Witch of Tennessee.
He commented that the line has been virtually trouble free so far for the company’s staff. “It has been very good from a dependability standpoint, and we are very pleased with that.”
He added that with the “current pricing and specials on certain models, it makes it easy to sell right now.”
Ditch Witch Equipment of Tennessee, in addition to Terex, offers the full line of Ditch Witch products and Tesmec rock trenchers from the company’s two location in the Volunteer State.
