Harbor Bridge Project (HBP) crews have reached another milestone with the completion of 40 drilled shafts on both the north and south side of the project. The 40 drilled shafts will make up the foundations of the two bridge pylons.
There are 20 drilled shafts located on the north side of the project and 20 located on the south side of the project. Each of the shafts are 10 ft. in diameter and were drilled to a depth of just more than 200 ft.
More than 500 cu. yds. (approximately 70 truckloads) of concrete was placed in each of the completed drilled shafts. Crews have moved into the next stage of construction which includes trenching areas around the shafts to prepare for the completion of the footings.
