The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has begun constructing wildlife fencing along eastbound I-80 near Jeremy Ranch. Crews will begin by installing one mile of fencing to mirror the section constructed along westbound I-80 last fall. Then, work will continue to extend the fence by 1,400 ft. on each side of the interstate.

UDOT has been working with residents and stakeholders to reduce vehicle/wildlife collisions in this area. The department has advanced a portion of funding from next year's I-80 truck lane and wildlife improvements project to begin wildlife fence installation early — eight months ahead of the larger portion of the project. The wildlife fence will eventually tie into the proposed wildlife bridge near Parleys Summit, which will be built in 2018 in coordination with the truck lane project.
