JLG Industries Inc. announced that the company completed the transfer of the government design telehandler production representing the balance of telehandler production associated with the OmniQuip acquisition.

Production of the telehandler models designed specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps started at the McConnellsburg, PA, facility on Dec. 29, 2003, and models designed for the U.S. Army began production on January 26, 2004. All production at the Port Washington, WI, facilities ceased as of January 16, 2004, slightly ahead of JLG’s aggressive timetable.

SkyTrak and Lull telehandler production was moved from the Port Washington facility to the McConnellsburg facility in October and November of 2003, respectively, while the Company continued to meet customer needs on a timely basis.

"The rapid and skillful relocation of telehandler production was in large part due to the excellent work ethic of the OmniQuip and JLG workforces. We continue to work toward completing the transfer of all remaining activity including the worldwide service parts business by the end of our current fiscal year. The second phase of our integration plan, commonization of the supply base and integration of the OmniQuip and JLG brands and marketing programs, is well under way. And, we have begun evaluating standardization of design, which is phase three of the plan, the details of which will depend for the most part on customer input regarding the critical characteristics of each of our brands."
