Kiewit Corp., the company repairing the Oroville Dam spillways, has made a $7,000 donation to Artists of Rivertown, according to a press release from the group.

One of the ideas for using the donation is to host an art competition with the theme “The River,” with prizes. Details will be publicized on the ART website artistofrivertown.org.

There are other ideas for events and also for assisting artists that cannot afford to participate.

Artists of Rivertown is an active nonprofit organization that has promoted art in the Oroville community for more than 10 years. David Tamori is the president of ART, and there are 36 active members.

It hosts monthly artist exhibits at the State Theatre and also at Mugshots Coffee House.

The group is growing and outgrowing its meeting space at the Senior Center. With contributions and support from the community, it hopes to find a meeting space and even perhaps in the future, an art center.
