Komatsu America Corp. and its distributor Power Motive Corporation celebrated the completion of Komatsu CARE’s 10,000th service interval. Komatsu America pioneered the construction industry’s complimentary maintenance programs for its Tier 4 machines with launch of Komatsu CARE in 2011.

Whether the equipment is leased or owned, Komatsu CARE covers all factory-scheduled maintenance intervals on Tier 4 Interim Komatsu construction equipment for the first 3 years or 2,000 hours (whichever occurs first), as well as two complimentary Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) exchange units for the first 5 years, or 9,000 hours, whichever comes first. The complimentary maintenance program is available at all North American distributors and is transferable to new owners, upon resale, within the United States and Canada.

“Programs, like Komatsu CARE, strengthen the relationship between the customer and distributor and demonstrate the unrivaled product support that Komatsu provides in this industry,” said Mike Hayes, Director of Service Marketing and Distributor Development for Komatsu America Corp. “Komatsu is committed to programs like Komatsu CARE because they protect the customer’s investment and ensure that their assets remain productive.” Hayes continued, “We also work closely with our distributors like Power Motive to ensure that they have the proper resources and the staff needed to service our customers so that our customers can maximize productivity, while minimizing any associated costs.”

The Komatsu CARE program is similar to complimentary maintenance programs that have been very successful within the luxury auto industry. Those programs, like Komatsu CARE, can increase residual values on lease returns, increase the price of used vehicle sales, and increase the longevity of component life. According to the company, over 96 percent of our Tier 4 Interim customers have received at least one Komatsu CARE complimentary maintenance service since its launch in 2011.
