As part of its global re-engineering efforts, Komatsu has announced that, effective April 1, 2002, its North American operations, Komatsu America Corp., Komatsu America International Company, Komatsu Mining Systems Inc., Komatsu Utility Corp., DataKom Inc. and Komatsu Reman North America Inc. had consolidated operationally into a single organization.

David W. Grzelak, chairman and CEO, and Kenichi "Ken" Nakamura, president and COO, will head the newly formed organization in an office of the chairman. The overall company is Komatsu America Corp.

"This new structure will reduce the complexity of our organization, and allow us to focus more on our products — and ultimately our customers," said Nakamura. "We believe this new structure will simplify the decision-making process and improve service and support."

As part of the re-engineering, Teruaki "Terry" Noda was appointed chief financial officer, and will work closely with the office of the chairman on strategic business issues and provide guidance on financial matters. Bill Campbell and Yasuki Sato have been appointed to the office of the vice president, Manufacturing Operations.

Also, Randy Baker was named vice president and general manager — Global Mining Marketing Division; Chuck Perron was named vice president and general manager — Construction Marketing Division; Ivor Hill was named vice president and general manager, Utility Marketing Division; and Steve Day was named vice president, Parts Operation.
