With a rapidly expanding presence in the asphalt paving and roam maintenance equipment industry, LeeBoy had no choice but to move its headquarters to the Lincoln County Industrial Park in Lincolnton, NC.

“We couldn’t expand our current home,” said Kelly Majeskie, president and CEO of B.R. Lee Industries Inc., which manufactures the LeeBoy brand. “We are only a couple yards from Lake Norman, so we didn’t have the land.”

Lincoln County officials and the Keith Corporation, which is developing the site, negotiated a lease that includes a $46,000 per year incentive over five years for LeeBoy to stay in Lincoln County. The decision will also provide some commute relief for its 280 employees.

“The majority of our employees live nearby,” Majeskie said. “In fact, we’re moving closer to most of them.”

The county will also fund the extension of Lincoln County Parkway and utilities to serve the LeeBoy site and the remaining acreage of the east side of Finger Mill Road.

The move consolidates the company from a cluster of buildings to one, 220,000 sq.-ft. manufacturing facility.

“We have nine different buildings going under one roof,” said Majeskie. “Our crane capacities will increase, as well as storage areas and loading and unloading capabilities. We’ll have better inventory control, new paint facilities. We’ll become much more efficient, have a better production flow and management.”

Construction is expected to finish by early June, with an eight week transition period between the two sites.

The move coincides with the purchase of B.R. Lee industries Inc. by Vision Technologies Land Systems Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Engineering.

“They came to us because of our brand recognition,” said Majeskie. “They wanted a strong United States identity, and we are hoping to expand our opportunities outside the Americas.”
