The Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA) will host its 49th Annual Winter Convention Feb. 14-19, 2000 at the Marriott Riverfront in Savannah, GA. The convention will begin with two days of pre-tours followed by four days of seminars, exhibit hall and association business.

Among the pre-tours offered, will be a private tour of the new JCB facility in Pooler, GA, the first JCB manufacturing plant in the United States. This tour will be among the first offered at the plant and will include the opportunity to see a new concept in heavy equipment manufacturing, hands-on operation of JCB equipment and a demonstration of JCB’s “dancing diggers.”

The educational programs are tailored to benefit land improvement contractors, from large employers to the single operator. Topics will include: benefits of drainage and water quality results, working with concrete, determining equipment operating costs, on-site septic systems, watershed structure rehabilitation, mechanics of a storm drainage system, blueprint of an oil sample, the importance of job documentation, and a discussion of the definition of an employee vs. a sub-contractor.

The convention will also include an exhibit hall where associate members will display their latest products and services.
