The new wheeled excavator series from Liebherr has successfully asserted itself in a first-class field of participants with numerous submissions from companies and design studios from all over the world.

The A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact made a lasting impression on the international jury of experts. In recognition of this special achievement, the Red Dot jury honoured the two models in the Product Design 2026 discipline with the highest award "Red Dot: Best of the Best" and awarded 96 out of a possible 100 Red Dot Winner Points.

Holistic Design Concept

The two Liebherr wheeled excavators A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact are compact all-round machines for demanding construction applications. The models in the nine and eleven ton class have been developed from scratch with high efficiency and workmanship, according to Liebherr.

With their attractive product design, the two models fit into the existing Liebherr product portfolio and emphasise the high standards of quality, continuity and progressiveness, according to Liebherr. All components — from the comfortable cab interior and the new INTUSI (Intuitive User Interface) operating system to the visually optimised exterior — have been designed for functionality and user benefit.

Due to their compact dimensions, hydraulics and controls, the new wheeled excavators offer maneuverability and flexibility, even in the tightest of spaces. Despite their compact design, both models have the largest cab interior in their class, according to Liebherr.

A spacious access and optimized all-round visibility increase comfort, ergonomics and safety. The intuitive and customisable INTUSI operating system is complemented by newly developed joysticks with new functions. Both machines are easy to transport, quick to set up and therefore ideal for changing operating locations. With a focus on ease of operation, safety and durability, Liebherr is setting new standards in the compact wheeled excavator segment, according to Liebherr.
