With a height of only 12 ft. 8 in. (3.9 m), the California model Terex RDB4000 rear-charged concrete ready-mix truck from Terex Roadbuilding features a safer, more functional low-profile design.

Since the drum sits lower on the chassis, this four-axle truck that meets federal bridge formulas boasts a lower center of gravity, reducing the chance for rollover, according to the manufacturer.

Terex offers common front-discharge features in a rear-discharge mixer truck. A three-sixteenth-in. (.47 cm) AR 400 Brinell steel drum on the rear-discharge Bridgemax resists aggregate abrasion, delivering enhanced service life.

This RDB4000 comes standard with a 150-gal. (568 L) certified pressure vessel 120-psi (8.3 bar) water tank for fast clean-up. Terex’s drum wiper system keeps concrete away from drum rollers for more reliable operation, according to the manufacturer.

This RDB4000 truck is equipped with a 10.5 cu. yd. (8 cu m) drum and a 42-in. (107 cm) drum opening. Also available are 10, 11, 12 and 13 cu. yd. (7.6, 8.4, 9.2, and 9.9 cu m) drums to meet contractor needs for payload capacities and weight restrictions.

Aluminum rear fenders are rust resistant and lightweight, giving increased payload capacity. The drum mixer features a four-point attachment with spring-loaded pedestal mounts, allowing the mixer mounting brackets to flex when driving over irregular terrain for longer frame service life.

The driver controls a number of drum functions from inside the cab for efficient operation. The in-cab controls cover drum start-stop; mixing direction and speed; discharge chute raise/lower and position lock; air-flip hopper; working lights; and air flip hopper position warning light.

An umbilical-cord remote control located toward the rear of the mixer truck controls many of the same drum functions.
