A New Orleans man was arrested for felony theft Oct. 4 for stealing copper from an FBI construction site at the FBI New Orleans Field Office, The Times-Picayune reported.
Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Bailey allegedly took copper from the construction site where the FBI is currently building a new visitor center around 6 p.m. on Sept. 22, according to an FBI news release.
A combination of video surveillance and eyewitnesses, including security guards, helped piece together the story of how Bailey drove to the site in his pickup truck and took copper wire that belonged to the project's contractor. When security guards approached Bailey, drove away.
The Federal Protective Service New Orleans Office, the FBI New Orleans Field Office and the New Orleans Police Department investigated. After an interview with investigators, Bailey was arrested Oct. 4, with a bond set at $2,500, The Times-Picayune reported.
