More than 200 guests gathered in Muncy, Pa., on April 30, 2026, as Medico Construction Equipment Inc. marked the grand opening of its new branch with equipment displays, facility tours and a celebration of nearly nine decades in business.

The new location expands the company's reach across 14 counties in north and central Pennsylvania. Based in Wilkes-Barre, with an additional branch in Stroudsburg, the family-owned dealership continues to grow while holding firmly to the principles that shaped its beginnings in 1937.

President Philip Medico shared the origin story of the company.

His grandfather and great-uncle were coal miners when a mule refused to move and kicked his uncle, Bill Medico. Frustrated with the dangers and hardships that working in the mines brought, the brothers decided it was time for a career change. Their goal was to create opportunity for a better life for their family and friends.

That moment led the men to establish Medico Electric Motor Co. in Pittston, Pa., originally focused on repairing small electric motors for the mining industry. Eventually, they brought in their three brothers Angelo, Samuel, and Charles and established Medico Industries, the company prior to Medico Construction Equipment.

Nearly 90 years later, that family-centered philosophy remains central to the company's identity.

"We are, in every way, a family business," Medico said. "Our employees are also our family. … When I say the Medico family, I mean friends, customers and employees." Medico also thanked the current ownership and board of directors for their continued support, noting that their commitment enables the company's ongoing expansion and growth.

That family culture is reflected throughout the workforce. Many employees have remained with Medico for decades, including Service Manager Mark Casper, who has spent 40 years with the company. He recalls the guidance he received on his first day from Thomas Medico, a second-generation family member who served as company president and CEO for decades: The customer is the boss.

"Our first priority is always the customer, and making sure they are happy and their machines are running. Customer satisfaction is always our goal." Casper said. Casper credits the company's longevity to strong internal communication and, most importantly, teamwork.

Today, Medico Construction Equipment employs 38 people within the construction dealership and more than 200 across all Medico family businesses. Many of those employees have served the company for 30 years or more.

The 5,000-sq.-ft. Muncy facility, which opened in October 2025 on approximately 7 acres, employs four people. Branch Manager Logan Dorwart oversees the new location, while Santino Medico, a fourth-generation family member, serves as territory manager.

A key part of Medico's history is its long-standing relationship with Case Construction Equipment.

"We are proud to be a Case dealer since 1955," Medico said. "We've been a strong and loyal Case dealer, now entering our fourth generation of Medico family servicing our customers."

In addition to Case, the Muncy location showcases equipment from Takeuchi Manufacturing, Wacker Neuson, Vacall Industries, Epiroc Construction, Soosan Heavy Industries, Schwarze Industries and JLG Industries.

As guests toured the new facility and examined the equipment on display, the event served not only as a celebration of a new branch, but as a reflection of a company whose growth has always been deeply rooted in family, loyalty, customer satisfaction and service. CEG
