Those interested in Apple Park might have gotten a sneak peak with a drone video, but Microsoft employees can now explore their new campus in the virtual world of Minecraft before construction is complete.
The company is currently updating its 500-acre campus in Redmond, Wash., to include an additional 18 buildings (the campus already holds more 100), fields for cricket and soccer, and shops, The Verge reported.
To keep its employees in the loop, Microsoft commissioned Blockworks, a company that builds Minecraft versions of actual projects, to make a virtual version of the campus, which will be updated as needed. Employees, or any users who have the Minecraft: Education Edition can take a look at the layout of Microsoft's new campus as construction continues, The Verge reported.
When finished, the campus will be home to 55,000 Microsoft employees—an increase of 8,000. Plans include tearing down 12 buildings to make way for 18 new ones, as well as creating aa 2-acre outdoor plaza that will fit 2,000 people, The Verge reported.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2022.
