Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co., headquartered in Wichita, KS, has acquired the John Deere Construction Equipment territories of Swaney Equipment Co., once a part of Martin Equip.
Murphy officially added the four Swaney territories of Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Sioux City, and Waterloo, IA, as of Nov. 1.
“The opportunity presented itself,” said Bill Buckles of Murphy Tractor & Equipment. “[It’s a] good mix of rural and metro territories.”
The addition of the Iowa locations gives Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. 16 locations throughout Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
In addition to Deere construction equipment, Murphy Tractor will also represent Kent hydraulic tools, Gehl extended reach equipment, and Dynapac compaction equipment.
“The addition of these locations continues an expansion strategy started in 1994,” said Tom Udland, president of Murphy Tractor & Equipment.
“We are very excited about the prospects that the Iowa territories bring to our company,” he added.
Murphy has retained the services of all of the employees that worked the territories for Swaney. The company also has shipped in thousands of dollars in parts, a substantial increase to its parts availability.
All four locations will maintain a service department, adding to the dealer’s existing field service.
Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. was recently awarded the John Deere Construction Equipment Co.’s prestigious “Partners in Excellence Achievement Award.”
The award is given annually to those dealerships that attain superior levels of excellence in customer service and marketing.
“To receive the achievement award while continuing to expand our territory is a testament to the hard work and customer support focus of all of our employees,” said Udland.
The dealer will hold open houses at its new locations in the spring, particularly at its Des Moines location.
