New Holland Sports ’Super’ Look

April 12, 2000 - Northeast Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

New Holland’s new LS Series skid steers sport a new look, but still deliver the same design features and proven performance advantages according to New Holland.

The LS Series skid steers are engineered with one of New Holland’s trademark features, the Super Boom lift linkage. The Super Boom design provides a vertical lift path which keeps the load in view at all times and provides superior forward reach at maximum lift height. There are no rear towers to block an operator’s view to the rear.

Another traditional New Holland design component, a long wheelbase and low center of gravity, gives a more stable, smoother ride. And because of this stability, New Holland skid steers can operate at faster ground speeds, so more work can be accomplished in a shorter time.

LS Series skid steers can be customized with a wide variety of factory-installed options. Customers can tailor their skid steer to their individual needs with: hand controls, high-flow hydraulics, back-up alarm, cab heater, horn, turn signals, cab enclosures, engine-block heater and counterweights.

Other product improvements include a new electronic instrument cluster (EIC) with improved operator features and better reliability. The EIC continues to offer an automatic shut-down system under certain conditions as standard equipment on every skid steer. A security lock-out system that can be activated by the operator is also standard equipment on every unit. The lockout system will not allow the unit to be operated unless a pass-code is entered.

New hydrostatic transmission pumps on the LS160 and LS170 models offer lower control efforts for less operator fatigue, reduced hydrostatic noise levels and improved durability.

High-capacity, continuous-duty cooling is now standard on high-flow hydraulics models and is available as an option on standard flow units for extreme heat applications.

Other hydraulic system improvements include new T-seals on boom and bucket cylinders for improved leak-down rates and a new control valve with better featherability and improved operator feel.
