New York’s H&R Parts Scraps its 2,000th Machine

Construction Equipment Guide

Parts is parts, right?

To Steve Hansen and Marv Ruch, owners of H&R Parts Inc., Buffalo, NY, it’s a little more complicated than that.

H&R Parts specializes in disassembling construction equipment and salvaging the valuable components. Founders Hansen and Ruch met while working together at an International Harvester dealership. While there, the duo recognized the need in the construction equipment market for quality used parts. Those H&R Parts was born in 1983.

H&R is not a typical used parts yard, however. Over the years, it has evolved into a remanufacturing operation that rebuilds equipment parts and components. The support facility, consisting of more than 120,000 square feet of indoor space, houses an 800-hp engine dynomometer, a 125-hp transmission and hydraulic test stand, service and machining facilities, and several huge parts storage areas.

H&R has continued its evolution by adding excavators to its scrapping repertoire. In fact, when the company recently celebrated the disassembly of its 2000th machine, it was a Komatsu PC300LC excavator.

Attachments also are fair game for H&R. The company carries a full line of used attachments for Cat, Dresser, Hough, IHC, Komatsu, Liebherr, Payhauler and Terex equipment.
