The Ohio concrete industry will take center stage this spring as the 2nd Annual Mixer Driver Competition returns on April 25, 2026, at Rush Truck Centers of Ohio in Columbus.
Bringing together some of the region's most skilled drivers, the event is designed to showcase the precision, safety and expertise required to operate mixer trucks in today's demanding jobsite environments. Organized by Ohio Concrete, the competition continues to build momentum as both a skills showcase and a networking opportunity for producers, manufacturers and industry partners.
According to event details, participation is limited to 25 competitors, with drivers nominated by their respective Ohio Concrete producer member companies.
The competition will test drivers across multiple disciplines, beginning with a written exam covering industry knowledge, followed by hands-on challenges including vehicle inspection, driving skills and a timed obstacle course. Additional skills stations — including basketball, golf and bowling — add a unique and engaging twist to the day's events.
"This event is a great way to highlight the professionalism and talent of mixer drivers while reinforcing the importance of safety and training across the industry," organizers said.
In addition to the competition, attendees can enjoy a "parade of trucks," where participating companies can display equipment, create a strong visual presence and added value for sponsors and exhibitors.
Top finishers will be recognized with cash prizes and the opportunity to advance to the NRMCA National Mixer Driver Competition at Concrete Works later in the year. First place will receive $1,000 along with a $2,500 company reimbursement to support participation at the national level, while second- and third-place finishers will also earn cash awards and travel support.
The event also offers multiple sponsorship opportunities, with benefits including logo placement on event materials, signage and T-shirts, as well as recognition during the competition.
The day's schedule begins with driver registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by the written exam and hands-on competition, concluding with an awards presentation in the afternoon.
With a mix of competition, camaraderie and industry visibility, the Mixer Driver Competition continues to grow as a must-attend event for Ohio's concrete professionals.
