Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park has been making progress on an expansion and renovation project, which began earlier this year.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority said two of six extensive projects are slated to be completed by the end of the year, Curbed reported.

A new promenade featuring different Olympic sports will connect the College Football Hall of Fame with the Olympic Ring Fountains. Plazas containing an Olympic Torch sculpture and Olympic Rings will stand at each end of the promenade, which is set to be complete by December 2017. In addition, Andrew Young International Boulevard will be replaced by a brick walk, Curbed reported.

According to officials, bigger construction projects will begin in early 2018, including:

  • construction of a Special Event Center, and
  • a renovation of the Southern Company Amphitheater, featuring shade structures, seating and a performance area.
