A proposed construction project for a Major League Soccer stadium in Nashville would bring thousands of jobs to the area. Plans for the project that were presented to the city's council Oct. 2 outline a $250 million, 27,500-seat stadium, WKRN reported.
Ninety percent of the money needed would be obtained from private funding, including from the Major League Soccer Ownership group and revenue from the stadium itself. Public funding would make up the remaining 10 percent, WKRN reported.
According to an economic impact study by the University of Tennessee, both the team and the stadium would help generate 1,886 new jobs with $77.7 million in income. Construction and development of the facility would bring 3,572 jobs and $139.2 million in income.
According to Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, the city has not yet been given a Major League Soccer franchise, but the plans for a new stadium puts the city in a better position to obtain one, WKRN reported.
