Rudd Equipment Company held a Paving Open House on Sept. 12 at its recently opened Columbus, Ohio, branch location. The open house was conducted as a way to showcase Volvo’s lineup of premier paving equipment, said Cleveland and Columbus Sales Manager Martin McCutcheon. Volvo Manufacturing representatives were on hand to lend their support to Rudd Equipment Company’s crew in providing technical information regarding the machines on display.

Machines featured at the event included Volvo’s DD110B compactor which, along with Volvo’s P7170 paver, debuted at the World of Asphalt 2013. Replacing the DD90, the new DD110B is powered by a Volvo Tier IV engine, and incorporates many performance and operator enhanced features. Updated operator features include a six-way adjustable seat, tilt steering wheel and instrument cluster. Performance enhancements include larger drums, greater water storage, higher frequency and increased centrifugal force than its predecessor.

Volvo’s Blaw-Knox P7170 asphalt paver also attracted a good deal of attention. With a maximum paving width of 26 ft. (7.9 m) and a paving speed of 297 ft. (90.5 m) per minute, the P7170 asphalt paver offers outstanding visibility of the entire paving process, from material flow to the auger channel and end gate.

Rudd Equipment Company provides equipment sales and rentals, as well as full service and product support to the mining, construction and related industries.

Headquartered in Louisville, Ky., Rudd Equipment Company has 12 locations serving markets in Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. Rudd Equipment Company is also the authorized dealer of Hitachi, Link-Belt, Driltech, Esco, and Euclid.
