Sales Team Trained on Compact Machines, Attachments

Briggs Equipment held a training session in Charlotte, NC, for its eight new north region compact equipment salesmen May 10.

“Compact equipment makes up about 53 percent of all units sold,” said Rob Jordan, compact equipment sales manager of Briggs. “We simply needed more people to sell our products.”

Jordan coordinated the training session with help from Case representatives Marv Adkins and Jim Story, as well as FFC representative Ken Lordi.

Adkins and Story instructed Briggs employees about the specifics of Case equipment while Lordi illustrated how to use machine attachments.

The new employees began the all-day training session in the classroom learning about the specifics of the Case machines, and ended the day in the field operating the equipment.

Employees were schooled on how to use and sell backhoes, skid steers, mini-excavators, and related attachments to those machines. The new, increased-power 400 Series skid steers and B Series mini-excavators were a primary focus.

“We tend to focus on the core products they are selling,” Jordan said. “Working with the machinery hands-on is a good way to familiarize employees that haven’t been with us that long.”

Backhoes can be used for anything from septic tank installation to swimming pools. Skid steers and mini-excavators are efficient tools for landscapers.

Training sessions are typically held for new Briggs employees so they can get a feel for the equipment they will be selling. Current employees receive hands-on training periodically throughout the year as new products are introduced. CEG
