Construction Equipment Guide

Terex Cranes has announced a new rough-terrain crane with a maximum lift capacity of 100 tons (90 t).

Designated the RT 1000, the new model has a 126-ft. (38.4 m) four-section boom with single-lever control for either three-section heavy lift or four-section long boom configuration. Two double-acting hoist cylinders provide boom elevation of minus 2 to 78 degrees for easier reeving changes and close radius operation. With quick-reeving design boom head, there is no need to remove wedge and socket from rope.

Two jib options are available — 38 ft. or 38 extendible to 60 ft. (11.6 or 11.6 to 18.3 m). Both are swing-on type and both offset zero, 17, or 30 degrees. Maximum tip height is 195 ft. (59 m).

Powerful, two-speed main and optional auxiliary winches have 456 fpm (138 m/min) maximum line speed and 20,400 lbs. (9,253 kg) maximum line pull.

The environmental operator’s cab on the RT 1000 optimizes load visibility and productivity and is sound and weather insulated for comfort. A fully-adjustable operator’s seat has shock-absorbing suspension and adjustable armrests. Rated capacity indicator (RCI) has visual and audible warning systems and automatic function disconnects.

All control levers and pedals are positioned for efficient operation and the RT 1000 has complete instrumentation. Rocker switches are environmentally sealed and in-cab circuit breakers protect electrical circuits.

The carrier has box-type chassis construction with reinforcing cross members. The standard engine is a Cummins 6CTA8.3 diesel delivering 260 hp ( 194 kW). The transmission is full powershift type with hi/lo range and integral torque converter, with eight speeds forward, six reverse providing wide ratio coverage. Maneuverability is enhanced by hydrostatic steering, front and rear axles. Control modes for front only, four-wheel cramp and crab steering are all controlled by steering wheel. A switch activates rear steer. Tail swing is only 14 ft. (4.3 m)

For maximum flexibility, fully independent multi-position, out and down hydraulic outriggers may be utilized fully extended to 25 ft 2 in. (7.6 m), in their half-extended position, or fully retracted. Standard tires are 33.25 by 29-32 PR with rock tread.

A high-capacity, hydraulic system consists of two gear-type pumps driven off the transmission. The combined system capability is 145 gpm (547 Lpm). The hydraulic reservoir has 330 gal. (1,250 L) capacity and there is a full flow oil filtration system with bypass protection.
