Timothy J. Watters, former president of Hoffman Equipment Inc., has purchased all outstanding shares of its parent, Hoffman International Inc., in a move hailed by the 82-year-old firm’s management and employees. Watters began his career with Hoffman Equipment in 1987, serving most recently as vice president, executive vice president and president.

In announcing their successor, Bill Hoffman and Joe Watters said, “This is the ideal move for Hoffman. It keeps the ownership and management within our executive family, and enables the company to continue as an independent distributor, working in the best interests of our employees and customers.”

As part of the change, Bill Hoffman will remain as a consultant and active advisor to the company. Joe Watters will continue as director of export operations, devoting his full attention to building export sales as Hoffman International enters its 33rd year of international sales and service to clients in 50 countries.

The new owner, Tim Watters, has big plans for the company. Hoffman recently has added JCB and Terex trucks to its product offerings and Watters plans to expand Hoffman’s operations into Long Island. “We’ve been quietly active in Long Island for many years … it’s time for us to open a branch to better serve our customers there.”
