Construction Equipment Guide

In mid April, Tracey Road Equipment was the recipient of a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) safety award.

SHARP was designed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, (OSHA) to encourage and recognize excellence in occupational safety and health. While preparing for SHARP eligibility, employers have the opportunity to learn how to maintain safe and healthy workplaces through the development and implementation of proven and effective safety and health management systems. It is a New York State on-site consultant safety program in which systematic safety inspections are conducted to ensure the highest quality safety standards are being trained and adhered to by all participants.

The New York State chapter of SHARP was the first to be formed in the nation and Tracey Road Equipment is one of the first members to be recognized for its dedication to a safe workplace.

Tracey’s Watertown facility has participated in the program for three years and its main office in Syracuse has participated in the program for the past two years. Tracey’s Rochester, Binghamton and Albany facilities are in the process of completing applications and inspections to join in the safety awareness program.

According to Coley Harrington, director of safety of the Tracey Companies, “We make every effort to diligently maintain a safe workplace in order to qualify for membership in SHARP. It is a continuous effort involving management and employee involvement, inspections and training…This award recognizes the success of our program.”
