NFL Films of Mount Laurel, NJ, is gearing up for a new season and a new facility. Its new facility, located approximately five minutes from the old one, will be larger and equipped with all the finest equipment.
To capture the progress of the building going up, Kevin Simkins, NFL’s assistant equipment manager, has strategically positioned four still cameras around the site. The cameras, mounted at the top of four telephone poles, are on timers, set to go off once an hour from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The time-lapsed pictures of the building going up will then be pieced together for film.
Simkins gets a lift from Trico Equipment’s Eagles boom once a week to change the film in the cameras. He’ll be getting that lift at least 78 more times since the completion date for the new facility is scheduled a year and a half from now.
