President Trump and Congressional Democrats have agreed to spend $2 trillion on fixing the nation's infrastructure. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with President Trump for 90 minutes the morning of April 30, to discuss an infrastructure plan.

"We agreed on a number, which was very, very good," said Schumer. "…"It's clear that both the White House and all of us want to get something done on infrastructure in a big and bold way."

Schumer also said "there was goodwill" coming from both sides to come up with a plan, and called the meeting "a very, very good start," The Hill reported.

Although Pelosi and Schumer both said that the meeting did not include an agreement on how to pay for the infrastructure improvements, including road and bridge repairs, they are scheduled to meet with President Trump in three weeks to discuss the issue further.

Pelosi said the coming agreement "will be big and it will be bold," the Associated Press reported.

Prior to their meeting, Pelosi and Schumer sent a letter to the White House April 29, saying that a bipartisan infrastructure agreement should include new revenue as well as a focus on green energy endeavors, USA Today reported.
