Venu Holding Corp. recently unveiled new multi-season renderings for its $300 million Sunset Amphitheater project in McKinney, Texas, according to localprofile.com.
Now under construction at the northeast corner of U.S. Highway 75 and State Highway 121, the venue is slated to open in 2026. The facility will span 46 acres and seat up to 20,000 guests for large-scale events. It will also be able to host smaller, 5,000-person gatherings during cooler months.
Crossland Construction Co. is the project's contractor.
VENU's amphitheaters are designed for year-round use and include features that blend engineering, architecture and audience comfort, according to localprofile.com.
That includes large-scale wind wall technology to minimize gusts while containing sound to enhance acoustics and intimacy. These walls also will integrate dynamic lighting and video.
"From the beginning, we envisioned the wind walls as more than functional architecture," said Jeff Crocker, owner and project lead at BCA Studios Architects, in a statement. "They are designed to create new innovations and immersive experiences in an outdoor environment. By integrating dynamic lighting and video, the walls transcend their practical purpose, becoming part of the performance and carrying the energy of the stage into the architecture itself."
A canopied roof structure will protect guests from rain and heat while preserving the open-air concert atmosphere. Integrated heating systems will make the amphitheater adaptable for all seasons, localprofile.com reported.
The Sunset Amphitheater will feature multi-configuration staging so the venue can host everything from major concerts to smaller, intimate performances, localprofile.com reported.
J.W. Roth, VENU's founder, chairman and CEO, said that these innovations represent more than architecture.
"We're not just building amphitheaters; we're reimagining what's possible when you combine innovative design with an unwavering commitment to the fan experience," Roth said. "The multi-season capabilities of these venues are absolute game-changers, allowing us to deliver world-class live music 365 days a year while striving to ensure every guest enjoys optimal comfort and protection from the elements."
