Virnig Manufacturing Inc., a supplier of skid steer loader attachments and accessories for compact equipment, has announced a new root rake grapple attachment for skid steer and track loaders.

The root rake grapple is designed for enhanced performance in handling materials such as brush, logs, tree stumps and loose hay. The two-cylinder, large grapple jaw opens to 50.3 in. (128 cm) and secures debris, but lets dirt sift out when loading large rocks.

The root rake grapple is ideal for piling loose debris and loading logs and branches. It also allows for quick and cost effective jobsite clean-up. The grapple is designed to scrape with loader arms against boom stops for digging, raking and loading debris. This versatile brush grapple attachment also can be used for agricultural, landscaping, construction and demolition purposes.

These grapples are built with an open back to increase operator visibility. The strength of the grapple jaw and tines is significantly increased with ½ in. (1.3 cm) Grade 80 laser-cut steel plate rated at 80,000 psi minimum yield strength.

The grapple also features corrosion, dent and flake resistant NitroSteel cylinder rods, replaceable Teflon coated bushings to provide lubrication and standard cylinder guards to protect the cylinders from damage.

The root rake grapple is available in either a 6 or 7 ft. (1.8 or 2.1 m) size and they weigh between 1,175 and 1,315 lbs. (533 or 596 kg). They feature replaceable, Series 23 cast steel teeth that cut deep into and underneath roots and debris. Machine specific hydraulic package completely protects the hose routing.
