At ConExpo-Con/AGG 2026, Volvo Penta demonstrated its rapid growth and unwavering commitment as a total power solutions provider.
Since ConExpo 2023, the company has doubled its industrial engine sales in North America, reflecting robust market demand for reliable, high-performance power solutions and underscoring Volvo Penta's expanding role in supporting both off-highway equipment and critical digital infrastructure such as data centers.
This year, building on that momentum with the theme, "Power Your Ambition," Volvo Penta showed that wherever and whatever you are building, it can support you with a growing portfolio of fit-for-purpose products and services developed in close collaboration with customers in mining, construction and power generation.
From fuel-efficient internal combustion engines and battery-electric drivelines to battery systems for energy storage and engines running on alternative fuels such as natural gas and renewable diesel, the company continues to address the industry's evolving needs with solutions designed to maximize uptime, performance, productivity and long-term value, according to Volvo Penta.
Visitors to Volvo Penta's ConExpo booth learned how Volvo Penta, backed by Volvo Group technology, supports construction sites worldwide as a trusted power partner for equipment operating in the most demanding conditions.
Powering the Digital Future
On display was the recently introduced G17 natural gas engine, operating on both pipeline-quality, conventional natural gas and renewable natural gas, and designed to deliver dependable performance that scales with the demands of high-growth sectors such as data centers.
With global data center construction projected to increase sixfold by 2027, demand is rising both for robust construction site power and for dependable backup power once facilities are operational. Volvo Penta plays a key role across this lifecycle, supporting the data center construction boom by powering equipment such as excavators and mobile power units used in rental fleets, while also strengthening its position as a trusted provider of data center backup power.
Leveraging a broad portfolio that includes Tier IV Final/Stage V-certified engines, natural gas solutions, renewable fuel compatibility and battery-based energy storage systems, Volvo Penta helps enable the rapid expansion of mission-critical digital infrastructure, according to Volvo.
"Reliable power is critical in every aspect for a data center, from building the facility to keeping it online," said Anna Müller, president of Volvo Penta and member of Volvo Group management. "Volvo Penta systems deliver the heavy‑duty performance, fuel efficiency and reliability required for high‑demand construction environments, while also reinforcing our role as a trusted provider of data center backup power."
Your Partner for Today, Tomorrow
ConExpo 2026 also was an opportunity for Volvo Penta to highlight its customer-focused approach to the energy transition, meeting customized needs for today and tomorrow. A new, interactive digital table provided an expanded view into the Volvo Penta power ecosystem, illustrating how its technologies are integrated to support a wide range of customer applications.
An example of this approach, said Muller, is Volvo Penta's success the underground mining industry.
"By working closely with OEMs, we deliver power‑dense, low‑emission, fully certified solutions that maximize uptime and productivity," she said. "In just 15 years, this focus has earned us approximately 30 percent of the available global market share."
A Full Lifecycle of Performance
Being driven by uptime means that Volvo Penta's commitment extends beyond being an engine supplier. ConExpo attendees learned about the company's commitment to industrial services and solutions, working closely with OEMs and operators from engineering and integration through aftermarket support and a global service network, for a full lifecycle of end-to-end support.
The connectivity display demonstrated how Volvo Penta Connect gives customers and fleet owners data-driven performance monitoring and maintenance planning access, guiding users to smarter decisions for optimal performance and care.
At ConExpo, Volvo Penta reinforced its role as a driving force behind construction productivity across the globe, wherever the work takes place, from quarries and aggregates operations to underground mining and large-scale infrastructure projects. The company participated along with Volvo Group sister companies Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Financial Services, reinforcing the Group's collective drive to partner with businesses on their journey and find customized solutions that power their ambitions.
