The Hard Hat Award is AGC of Alaska's most prestigious award, according to the organization. It was established by the chapter to recognize an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Alaska construction industry.

“The selection of a meritorious individual is a matter of serious consideration, deliberation, and evaluation. The chosen individual must not only possess the qualities of skill, responsibility, and integrity, but must also possess a distinguished record of giving their time and talent for the betterment of the industry and community,” the AGC said.

“In recognition of outstanding service to his fellow Alaskans and the Alaska construction industry the members of the Associated General Contractors of Alaska do hereby proclaim Congressman Don Young to be a member of the Hard Hats, and to be known hereafter by all as 'Hard Hat Don,' the members of the Associated General Contractors of Alaska said when welcoming Don Young to the ranks of distinguished 'Hard Hats'.”

The AGC also welcomed a new executive board of Directors:

• President — Jim St. George

• Vice President — Cuauhtemoc “Rod” Rodriguez

• Secretary — Chris Reilly

• Treasurer — Sarah Lefebvre

• Contractor-at-Large — Gary Klebs
