JCB, the global manufacturer of construction equipment, has announced the acquisition of German-based Vibromax Compaction Equipment.

The company will be known as JCB Vibromax and will be managed as part of the JCB Group with local management retained in Germany and North America.

Products will be marketed as JCB Vibromax and will carry the JCB logo. Production will continue at the existing factory in Gatersleben, near Leipzig. The acquisition is expected to be completed in early September, subject to regulatory approvals.

Commenting on the acquisition, John Patterson, managing director and CEO of the JCB Group, said: “There is a great deal of synergy between JCB and Vibromax. The Vibromax products expand JCB’s all-important construction equipment range and we are very excited about the growth potential for the future.

“Vibromax has been privately owned with a culture very similar to JCB and an understanding of our values. The Vibromax product range is extremely complementary to JCB’s machine line-up.”

The Vibromax business has been an active force in the design, manufacture and worldwide distribution of compaction equipment for over 65 years.

The factory produces a broad range of high quality products, manufactured in accordance with DIN ISO 9001, including a full line of single drum soil compactors, vibratory tandem rollers and trench rollers and light equipment such as tampers and plate compactors, with approximately 2,500 machines manufactured annually.

JCB has been manufacturing construction equipment for 60 years and is the largest privately owned construction equipment manufacturer in the world.

With worldwide headquarters in Staffordshire, England, the company has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North and South America and India, and has recently acquired land and permission to build a factory in China.
