Truck Works Inc. (TWI), an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) located in Phoenix, Ariz., has integrated an old technology into a contemporary application for water distribution and other related applications where cleaner water is necessary.

The process of Hot Dip Galvanization (HDG) has been available for many years; however, using the HDG process for liquid transportation tanks is innovative because it provides the industry with a cost effective method of delivering a cleaner, safer product that is environmentally safe.

“Galvanizing is a proven process for achieving relative corrosion resistance at an economical cost,” stated Colin Dickinson, owner and president of TWI. The HDG process allows for a more cost effective method of meeting EPA mandates concerning environmental awareness and involving longer life for liquid transportation tanks.

TWI tanks are stress-relieved during the 100 percent HDG application process. According to the manufacturer, test results have proven that suitable paint coatings on galvanized steel achieve a synergistic effect. Additionally, the duplex coating lasts up to three times longer before major maintenance is required as compared to the same product applied to black steel.

The HDG process provides an additional benefit in the service repairs for the overall mobile unit by not having to replace the tank as often, increasing the value of the customers’ investment.

TWI currently is testing its product and is in the formal process of acquiring potability certification from the National Sanitary Foundation (NSF). When the certification is obtained, TWI will expand the availability of the HDG process to other markets aside from potable water where this process will be necessary.

At this time, Truck Works, Inc. HDG tanks:

• Are available for truck mounts with 26,000 GVW and larger.

• Have capacities ranging from 500 to 4,000 gal. (1,890 to 15,000 L) as well as custom capacities.

• Require at least one-third less maintenance with three times the life span of conventional tanks.

• Provide a cost effective alternative to the rising costs of other precious metal tanks.

• Offer a substantial warranty period.

“Our new HDG tanks offer endless application solutions and are in demand from multiple end users ranging from general contractors to government agencies as well as rental companies and anyone who needs a cost effective method of transporting potable water and other liquids that cannot be contaminated,” concluded Rob Mundell, TWI partner and vice president.
