LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Planned construction of a southern New Mexico road to Spaceport America is one step closer to taking place.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that the New Mexico Spaceport Authority gave approval to sign off on a required agreement with the Bureau of Land Management.

The land agency and Spaceport Authority board of directors must come to terms on a Memorandum of Agreement in order for right-of-way access for construction to be given.

According to a proposal shown to the Spaceport Authority, BLM officials may sign off in October.
