Purchase Puts Michigan John Deere Under New Ownership
Deere & Company has confirmed that Nortrax Inc. has sold its operations in Michigan to JDE Equipment Company. The transaction took effect Nov. 20. According to JDE Equipment General Manager Bill McDaniel, JDE will serve all but five counties in lower Michigan, with John Deere construction equipment, Hitachi (including mining equipment), and the Eager Beaver trailer line. “We’ll sell anything from skid steer loaders to very large mining equipment,” McDaniel said of JDE’s range of products....

State of Michigan Awards Grants to Five Builders To Build Energy-Efficient Houses
Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm and Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS) Director David C. Hollister announced on April 7 that five Michigan builders have been awarded grants from the state’s Five Star Home Grant program to build energy-efficient houses. Michigan State Transportation Commission Approves for Grinding I-275
At a recent meeting of the Michigan State Transportation Commission (MSTC), a major step forward was taken to reduce the noise on I-275. Acting upon the official recommendation of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Director Greg Rosine, the commission decided to remove the experimental texture on the concrete road by using a technique called diamond grinding. Rosine stated that MDOT had employed the texture, which is used on concrete pavements to increase the level of skid resistance, based on a study that was done by nationally renowned engineering firm Parsons-Brinkerhoff for MDOT and the City of Farmington Hills. Rosine stated that there appears to be a higher-than-anticipated level of noise on that section of road. He indicated in his comments to the commission that MDOT had extensively studied the noise issue along I-275 as well as in other states, including Colorado....
