SuperPac has announced the release of the 6620, a new 168-centimeter (66 in.) machine.

This is the company’s latest addition to its complete line of soil compaction machines and is available in either smooth or padfoot configurations. With an operating weight of 7,688 kilograms (16,950 lbs.). and powered by a Cummins 4BT3.9 water-cooled diesel, it delivers 14,043 kilograms (30,960 lbs.) of centrifugal force.

According to Jack Shewan, vice president sales, “The 6620 has been redesigned to provide a rugged and reliable machine to the roadbuilding, contracting or rental industries. Driven by the demands of the marketplace, a great deal of engineering and manufacturing technology has gone into improving the visibility, maneuverability, reliability and therefore productivity.”

The 6620 includes a fully ergonomic operator’s environment with easy to operate, variable speed single lever controls. The hydrostatic motors for the drum and the wheels provide the most torque of any machine in its class. The dual speed switch located on the dash allows the machine to go zero to 4.2 or zero to 8 kilometers per hour (zero to 2.6 mph or zero to 4.9 mph) depending upon whether it is on the job or on the way to the job site. “In the working mode, this machine is capable of over 80 percent gradeability,” Shewan said. He pointed out that the rubber buffer isolation system designed by SuperPac puts more vibration into the ground than competitive models and even less back into the machine. “This means that SuperPac is ready to go to work when you are,” he said.

The 6620 is maintenance friendly and designed with ease of access in mind. This machine comes with a full list of standard equipment and has options available to suit any job.

Other standard features include:

• Warning package for charge system, brake, engine oil and temperature

• Transportation accessories to simplify the movement of the machine from job site to job site

• Adjustable scraper bars

• Comprehensive vandal protection package with lockable engine panels

• Automotive type steering with dual acting cylinders independent of the vibration system

• Two way adjustable cushioned operator’s seat

• Dual element air cleaner with an air precleaner available as an option
