U.S. Concrete Inc. has announced that it has acquired the assets of Lafarge Aggregates Southeast’s Hamburg Quarry, located in Hamburg, NJ.

The Hamburg Quarry provides construction aggregates to commercial, residential and public works projects primarily in Northern New Jersey and Orange County, NY. Annual production at the facility is approximately 1 million tons of aggregates, and the quarry is estimated to have approximately 46 million tons of remaining mineral reserves. No terms were disclosed.

“We are extremely pleased to announce this transaction, which represents our entry into the aggregates industry,” stated Eugene P. Martineau, chief executive officer of U.S. Concrete. “We believe the Hamburg Quarry is an excellent strategic complement to our existing ready-mixed concrete operations in Northern New Jersey and we will continue to explore additional opportunities to integrate aggregates businesses into our existing concrete operations.”

U.S. Concrete Inc. was formed in 1998 and has become a leading value-added provider of ready-mixed concrete and related products and services to the construction industry in major markets in the United States.

The Company currently has 85 operating plants producing approximately 6.0 million cu. yds. of concrete annually, making it the sixth largest ready-mixed concrete producer in the country.
